EDIT: Pizza was invented in Italy circa 1885. The first mass-produced one, Pizza Margherita (red sauce, white cheese, green basil) was created for Queen Margherita and had the colors of the new Italian flag. That was 1889. Pizza was brought to the United States by Italian immigrants. Whoever told you otherwise is uninformed.
