  4. After the country reunification in 1975. In 1976, the VN National Assembly decided to change Saigon to HCMC to remeber Ho Chi Minh's deeds in the country's independence.

    As a Saigonese, I personally prefer Saigon over HCMC. Saigon bears a historical value and is still widely used by locals.
