When did scientists realize that global warming was happening?

im working on global warming for a science project and i was wondering when it started, or when they realized it.

  2. It was first predicted theoretically in the late 1800s.

    Data in the 70s and 80s started to show that it was happening.  It gradually got more and more solid until today, when most all scientists say it is real, and mostly caused by us.  There is no one moment to be singled out, the scientists have steadily gotten more certain.

During the 1980s, the British government wanted to promote expanded use of nuclear power and paid out grants to researchers who could "prove" that burning coal was heating up the world.  Once the scientific community realized that there was big money to be made, they started promoting the greenhouse theory.

  5. i think this person gave a speech in the summer of 1998 or 1993 cant remember which one. but since then it was very popular.

  6. It was first suspected that it could happen in the late 1800's.  But real concern by scientists started gaining momentum in the 1960's.
