  1. It was a process.  There was no one day when the world said, "Hey, now sociology is a science!"  

    Sociology began the transition to a more scientific model during the late 19th century and early 20th century.  Some aspects of sociology are still rather unscientific, but virtually all studies try to apply the concepts of the scientific method.  

    To the previous person who said sociology is socialism in a lab coat is rather misinformed.  Most of the people I know in the sociology field, myself included, are extremely conservative and pro-capitalist.
