When did the 'D' and baulk line on a match snooker table become white?

The lines used to be black.

  1. Both answers are right -The TV  and I saw a few in the 50s just not that many-Most are still black

  3. I've just had a table recovered and the lines are still black (pencil actually, i saw the bloke do it).

    Do you mean on the telly?

    It is so the viewers can see the baulk line and D better.

    Can't tell exactly when this changed, but recently.
