When did the 80GB ps3 come out?

I bought an 80GB PS3 around christmas time using cash and didnt keep the receipt. Now its not reading my disks and I can't take advantage of my warranty without proof that I bought it within a year. I called them on August 13 and I figure they'll have a record of that call so if I could find out that the 80GB PS3 came out after that last year then I could prove my warranty hadn't expired. Can someone help me, I don't want to pay $150 because I threw out a stupid scrap of paper.

When I called about my XBOX RROD they told me the exact date that my warranty went out
