When did the class for goods vehicles change from 3500kgs to 2000kgs for speed restrictions on duel carriage

The speed limit for 3.5 t goods vehicle was 70 on duel carriageway and has now been reduced to 60 for anything over 2 t. Please can someone tell me when? cheers

  2. Not sure, but it was quite a while ago, when they differentiated between car derived vans & purpose built vans. I had a Ford Connect brand new in 2003 & I know that had a notice in it giving a max speed of 50 on A&B roads, 60 on dual carriageways & 70 on motorways, so it's at least five years ago.
