Before the oldest known microfossils, which date back around 3.5 billion years or so. There is indirect evidence from isotope effects for life at 3.85 billion years before present.  So some time between then and when the earth first cooled down sufficiently after its formation. Earth formed around 4.5 billion years ago, but for a few hundred million years after that would have been uninhabitable because of collisions like those that made the craters that still survive on the moon.

The first life forms, if I take your questions correctly, would be something that divides by itself AKA reproduces, which would be a form of DNA or RNA or something similar.

Of course if you are a creationist you believe God created the hevens and the earth, no offense taken by anyone I hope.

The first life on Earth was 3.5 billion years ago, 1 billion years after the Earth formed and it seems just as Earth was able to support life.  It seems that life started as soon as the conditions were there to support life.  

Humans in your present form have been on Earth for about 250,000 years having split from other apes 5 million years ago.  The dinosaurs have been dead for 65 million years after being the dominate species on Earth for 160 million years.

Life is something that the universe does and when you finally travel the galaxy, you will find life and intelligent life all over the universe.  The universe makes life.  Stars form all the atoms from hydrogen using fussion up to the 92nd element uranium and throw their mass into space where it mixes with interstellar hydrogen and recondenses to form new stars with planets and on many planets life.

You are the universe that can see itself.  You are the living universe.
