The last episode was on July 5th, as others have said, although there was a mini-episode shown in conjunction with the Doctor Who proms concert on July 27th, called "Music of the Spheres". The concert will be shown in full on BBC1 later this year (including "Music of the Spheres"), but the mini-episode on it's own can still be found on Youtube.

The next full episode of Doctor Who will be the 2008 Christmas special, featuring the return of the Cybermen (25th Dec 2008). That will be followed by 3 bank holiday specials in 2009, then the 2009 Christmas special.

The next full series will begin in spring 2010.

there will NOT be a  new Series till 2010-- there will be some "specials" ( including the 2008 christmas one) for 2009--

The last series ended on July 5th and was with the episode called Journey's end which see's the departure of Donna Noble (shame).

There will be a one off special which is to be shown on Christmas Day the title and time have yet to be confirmed but we do now from the trailer shown at the end of episode 13 that the Cybermen return

There will be no full series shown in 2009 only four one off specials, these will be the last which are being produced by Russell T Davies and Julie Gardener.

When series 5 returns in 2010 this will be managed by Steven Moffat

Lou C is right - it ended on 5 July.  The next episode will be the Christmas Special which will be shown in the UK on Christmas Day - normally around 7:00 p.m.

There won't be a full season in 2009 though - instead there will be four "special" feature length episodes because David Tennant is taking a break from Doctor Who to do other work - he's currently performing in Hamlet at Stratford.

There's no confirmed date for when the episodes will air in 2009 but I'm guessing we should see something around Easter / April????
