When did the second delivery of mail end in UK?

Question

I see we all have a good impression of the royal Mail! So why does the chairman (Crozier) continue to get big bonuses?

Out mail came at 2.30 today!

Adam Crozier is THE biggest k**b ever and the service provided by the Royal Mail is at its lowest quality that I can remember in the last 30 years. The removal of a second delivery and the totally confusing way that they charge for delivery of large or weighty letters and packets is absolutely a disgrace. But the current government have to shoulder a lot of the responsibility too for taking away so many services from the Post Office so that for them to remain competitive they have to close so many smaller Post Offices. It's a complete and total utter national disgrace but no one will do anything about it and the Post Office will continue to implode. (Oh and I remember a time I used to get my mail about 8:30am but not anymore, you may as well stick a pin in the clock to guess what time you're mail's going to be delivered now!).

Goodness, must be at least two years ago I would think, maybe even longer? The postal service just hasn't been the same since AND the prices have gone up!!!

About two years ago, and now they are closing all the Post Offices, so that we all have to travel about two miles now before we find one. We all need a Post Office sometime, as we have letters to answer, and bills to send off. So I wonder what the idea is.. ? Always someone ready to interfere in our daily lives.Then  I hear that some of the Post Boxes are going to go as well.... so do we send all letters by pigeon carrier... what a society we live in now, and they will not be happy until all our services are gone. It seems as though we are being sent back into the olden days, and after all we have done to bring ourselves into the 21st    Century. Well that was a waste of time was it not.....!!

I think a letter went out about it last year but it has not arrived yet.

it must have been the first delivery that was stopped because my mail never arrives before 3pm. also i have never had two deliveries in my area so i think the second delivery never really  existed

it was phased in to be abolished last year.

some areas have taken longer to let it go than others & the responsibility of the sorting-office manager.

Our postman says

If we haven't received any post by 1 PM, there is no post.

since his hours have been increased ( & he was bullied to sign a new contract or face the sack )

but his wage has stayed the same.  

The Union is toothless & the perks of the job have all gone.

He works hard for his money.
