When did this new belief system come about?

Can anyone tell me the origin of the "starseed" theory/beliefs? Someone on youtube said I must have been a fellow starseed. I thought they were calling me a fluff-bunny. I kindly explained to them i was Asatruar (Norse Heathen). Then they said I must have come from some planet elsewhere. I did some research but nothing on the origins of this ... belief structure. They believe that they are descended from other planets, and are put on earth without any knowledge or memory of this, but then have a genetic trigger that awakens them to it the fact, and they are here to do good and bring about a golden age. I mean, its a nice concept, I have my own personal thoughts on it, but its not even 9:30am in my time zone and i'm not going to be belligerent this early in the morning :-)

So has anyone else heard of this? And when did this come about? Who started this .... belief? .. system .... ? I dont even know what to call it ...

It's a new-age belief that people's souls aren't always human and we aren't all from earth. I'm a Star Person myself. Apparently you need to stop using google for your searches. I've used Yahoo and found tons.

Never heard of starseed until I read Larry Niven's  RING WORLD series of books.

Didn't realize there was a whole new age religion called star seed.
