The last time Team USA mens won the event was at the Seoul Games in 1988.

The USA women have never won the event.

It became an olympic sport in 1964, the Tokyo Olympic. If you consider beach, then it was Kerri Walsh and Misty May in 2004. But if you consider indoor, it would be like from Seoul Olympic in 1988 for the men's volleyball team.
