When did we first see photographs of different countries?

When did we finally realize what different countries looked like without actually going there?

I was about two years old. Different people were shown them at different times.

Who needed photographs? There were written descriptions and drawings from the beginnings of writing, several thousand years ago. Paintings came along later.

Photographs came out in the 1840s.

Don't know. Somewhere in the 1900s probably. Remember cameras. Or maybe 1800s.
