Good for you for reflecting on that rather than just going with what everyone else does. It is expensive, frustrating, exhilarating, rewarding, draining, and stressful. There are many ways to contribute to society besides reproducing or adopting. It is important to know the reason why you DO want children if you do. I mean if it is an ego thing , trying to bring yourself happiness  or if it is a selfless effort without wish for gain or care in old age.  If you like sleep and peaceful orderly life, you may not want to have kids. It is not a good idea to have children if you do not have enough money to educate them.
