  1. I found out in Tech School.  I had to have my clearance and my tech school was 6 months, so there was no big rush.  So I would guess I found out about 3 months in advance.  Somewhere in that time frame.

  2. USMC: About 2 weeks before I graduated my A school.

USAF: about two days after I put in my dream sheet and went BACK to MEPS to do the actual enlistment since I wasn't going to have to retrain or go to USAF BMT.

  3. I went through 18 weeks of OSUT (Basic and AIT combined). I found out I was going to Germany the day of graduation, once in germany it took about 4 more days before I was assigned to my first duty station.

Don't know how long the list for housing is because I don't know where you are going. You will get a bedroom for each of your kids since one is a boy and one a girl...

If you have two boys, you might get a 2 bedroom house, or wait for a 3 bedroom... all depends on what is availible at the time and where you are going...
