When did you first hear about Gretzky?

I don't remember the exact date, but I defintely was following him by his first or second season with the Oilers, after joining the NHL. He was the talk of my elementary school by that time. And of course, being in southern Alberta, that meant a lot of Gretzky-bashing, kid-style. ROFL.

I was only 7 when Gretzky played his first NHL game.

I was 8 when he retired!  So I barely remember him playing.  When I was 6 he was on the Rangers, and I grew up disliking the Rangers (Devils fan), so I didn't really pay much attention to him, sadly.  I wish I was older so I could really have watched him play in his Oilers days.

Umm, I was 5 and my Dad was the TEAM DENTIST for the Indianapolis Racers... I saw him practice and play many times when he was just 17 here in INDY! I have signed memorabilia out the wazoo from him. My dad was smart enough to take advantage of the opportunity.

I don't remember the exact date . I was just a kid. My Grandpa Told me I need to watch this guy. I also seem to remember him clearly from when he was on Saturday Night Live one time. Just a weird thing I remember

I first heard about Gretzky after he retired. I heard about him for the first time when I started watching hockey in 2000.
