When did you go into labour? I was induced at 40+9 and I'm pregnant with my second.?

I'm hoping I wont be induced and can go into labour naturally. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences. Thanks.

  1. 38 weeks with baby #1

    32 weeks with baby #2

    35 weeks with baby #3

They were all totally natural births, the 1st was a spontaneous labour and they had to break my waters at the hospital when i was 10cm's so i could push, from first contraction until when he arrived i was in labour for 3 hours, he weighed 6lbs 3oz.

#2 i had quit smoking the day before i went into labour and apparently that's what caused the early labour...bub went into distress they couldn't stop my contractions so they delivered her because there was no time to transfer me to a better equiped hospital, she was not breathing when she was born...they revived her after a while and flew her to NICU in brisbane where she stayed for 6 weeks then local hospital for a week, labour was 2 hours start to finnish and she weighed 4lbs.

#3 was spontaneous...nothing caused me to go into labour i just did, we got to hospital just in time to push him out after a total of 1 hour 40 mins labour he weighed 5lbs 2oz and was in nicu for 2 weeks.

  2. I had the same thing with my first- 42weeks+2 days, induced from no dilation, horrible experience.  (50 hours)

My second, I went into labor at 40 weeks, 3 days, had a drug-free labor and a great experience (9 hours).  My third I went into labor at 41 weeks 5 days, 3.5 hours, drug free water birth, even better!!!

So there's real hope that you will not have a repeat of your first birth.

  3. With my first, my water broke at 37 weeks, so with my second I was utterly paranoid that she was going to be born even earlier.  I freaked out about it the whole pregnancy, but ended up going 2 days past my due date and had to be induced because of toxemia.

So, every pregnancy can be completely different.  In my experience, the things you worry about always end up being the wrong things.

  4. with my 1st son i went into labor naturally 2weeks before my due date! and my 2nd son i went into natural labor 1week before my due date! well congrats on the new baby! i hope everything works out for the best!

  5. The only reason you should be induced between 40 and 42 weeks is if the amniotic fluid is too low or the baby is in distress.  I have gone between 40+5 and 41+5.  I go late every time.  Stripping the membrane can help start labor, and so can taking black and blue cohosh.  There's several pressure points that can create contractions and there's also nipple stimulation.

  6. With my first i was 41+1. the strip and stretch was all i needed to move things along. (membrane sweep)

With my second i was induced at 41+3. The average they'll let you go over is 10 days. You have the option to go later and see if you give birth naturally, but i wanted it over, so i jumped at the chance.

Compared with my first labour, i'd much rather be induced. It's controlled, and it was a lot faster than labouring naturally. But, i know a few of my friends don't like to be induced.

Congrats on your pregnancy. I hope it goes well for you.
