I am 25 weeks pregnant and i just had my last ultrasound confirming for the second time that it's a BOY!! he looks healthy and everthing's accounted for. i had already started buying for him but yesterday i went out again and brought him things from babies r us, childrens place, old navy and carters because there having sells. my best friend made a comment the other day that my son who is not even born yet has more clothes then her son that she just had monday. i was wondering do you think i am buying too much to soon?? my reason for buying him stuff early is because i have a daughter and i started her fall/ winter wordobe so i knida can't help but vinture over to the boys side and buy for him. i get paid every week and my plan is to set aside $80 for each child every week and shop for them. meaning one week i spend $80 on my daughter and the next week $ 80 for my son. but he is due in december so by then i'm afraid he'll have too much! but i want to make sure he has all he needs. so do you think i'm over doing it? and when did you start buying for little bundle?

p.s i know i will be having a baby shower, and with my daughter i did not have one cause by the time it was time to have one i had everything already at 8 and a half months!!! (smile) i couldn't help myself and i still cant. i rather buy for them then me! my husband say's that i can buy what i want as long as i'm happy lol he knows shopping makes me happy!

  1. Shoot i have ye to start buying y'all are making me feel bad maybe i need to get on the ball i will be 6 months monday and i haven't  even finished his room yet and i am do due dec 22nd oh well good luck to all of you  and maybe i need to start

  2. Hun, I'm having a boy in December as well (due the 13th), and we already have a lot for him. We have most sleepers, in regards to clothing. It is never too early to start buying for your children. After the birth, you won't have very much time to go out and do it, so doing it early is great.

As for a baby shower, just say that you don't need clothing, but anything else baby-related will be greatly appreciated and welcomed. (You can never have too many towels, washclothes and baby hygiene items anyway).

We also have a 17 month old daughter, so we know what it's like to go shopping for one and feeling the need to shop for the other, lol.

Heck, we're only 25 weeks today and already have pretty much everything, including a brand new car seat and double stroller!

    Good luck and congrats!

  3. I started out with a couple things right after I found out I was having a girl. Like the bedding, crib, an outfit or two. But Im 34 weeks, already had my baby shower 2 weeks ago and have pretty much everything now.

  4. I started buying things as soon as I knew I was pregnant! Don't let someone else rain on your parade. If the spending isn't causing a problem in your marriage, go for it!

  5. 25 weeks is the perfect time to shop because you can still get around and you are past the 12 week mark.  Shop for what you really need and what you get as gifts from baby showers etc is a bonus for you and baby.

  6. I started buying neutrals right away. You aren't too early.

  7. i dont see an issue with what you are doing as long as you are buying different sizes. you dont know how big your baby will be so it would kinda suck to buy all these clothes for him and find out they dont fit.

You also have to remember that babies grow fast, and if you buy to much, its likely that he wont wear it all.

My mom bought for my second daughter throughout the pregnancy, sizes from newborn to 12 months. she has 2 draws full of clothes, 5 feet of closet for shirts and dresses, and two small cupboards, half the stuff is too small now and she has never warn. You tend to get lost when you have so much baby clothes, and forget what you have untill you go through it and find out half dont fit, and still brand new.

  8. My stepmom (who is a labor and delivery nurse) says that you should wait till you find out the s*x before you start buying stuff because youre outta the danger zone by then and you know what color to buy...lol....but its normal to spend alot im 13 weeks pregnant and i cant wait to start buying....(ive actually spent a couple hundred on my 3 nieces because i cant buy for my own baby yet).....but my advice for you is to start buying things like boxes of dipers (from walmart) and stock up on them...and tape the receipt to the box so when the baby comes  and if your baby grows outta the size of dipers before you use up the boxes you can just exchange them for the right size

  9. omg i was the same way with all three of my children during my pregnancies. well, i still am-i always shop for the kids, they definitely have more clothes and other things than me. it makes me happy to be able to get them nice things, especially since i didnt always have the best of everything. im thinking maybe you should lighten up on the clothes a little bit though, you will probably have an excess amount. my sister in law just had a baby shower, and nobody used her registry-they all got her clothes! she was overwhelmed because we have a 3 month old, and had just given them all of his clothes. i think she is planning on returning all the new ones, but still..but i say as long as it makes you happy, and youre not putting yourself in the poor house-buy that little angel whatever you want!

  10. $80 every week for one child is a bit much especially since your kids are going to grow so fast i would limit it to about $20 a week and maybe buy things that will last longer or that they need rather than clothes like nappies and things like that that are a continuous expense. let people have a chance to buy stuff for you having babies is expensive and it helps when others are able to help out. try to settle down a bit and put the extra money you would be spending on them in a savings account and start saving for future expenses your children will apreciate this much more then clothes they get to wear for two months and then have to give it away.

  11. You ahead of me. I am due November 28. I had started on somethings. But still got to get a stroller with the car seat which I found for 30 from craigslist.com . I am waiting for the clothes because they really didn't know for sure if this baby is a girl. The baby kept on Moving. I get another ultrasound in October and hoping to find out for sure. I been buying things slowly since I was 12 weeks along in the pregnancy.

  12. As long as you're buying a variety of sizes, I don't see the harm in shopping early.  I did the same for my son and I was glad to have the clothes on hand when the time came that I needed them.

Since you're having a shower, make the host aware of what you need/ don't need so that you don't end up with too many clothes.

  13. If I were you, I would be buying different sizes.  I Know the 0-3 months is so cute but also think of 9 months, a year, two years.  Buy for those too.  My son is only 8 months but  he is wearing 9months and sometimes year clothing.

Instead of going out and spending the $80 every other week on your unborn son, why not put it off to the side so once you have your baby shower you can go out and buy whateveryou didn't get.  A lot of people don't think about baby proof items yet, go out and buy those too.
