I am 25, have been with my bf for almost 8 years. We both work full time and own our own flat. I've recently been feeling really broody and would love to have a baby, and i know my bf would love too - he always talks about it. I am worried that we won't be able to afford it though as i have the better job out of the 2 of us, but he has sad he doesn't mind working part time and looking into childcare. Sorry, i'm rambling now! Basically, when did you know you were ready? I feel that i want to have a baby now but am scared about it all too! any advice would be a great help x

  1. When I was married.  I can't imagine explaining to one of my children what "b*****d" means and why we couldn't trust each other to be married even though we thought we trusted enough for a child !  I would trust marriage LONG before trust for child - marriages can ruin you, but having a child outside of marriage can ruin your CHILD if circumstances take a turn for the worse.  Or later, try explaining to them why waiting is smart...  of course, you seem to have a different idea about this for yourself so I don't know if you even care about these sort of things - you know, abstinence until marriage and the like.

As for emotional readiness - you are never ready when you get pregnant - that's part of why God gives us 9 months!  We were freaked out at the beginning but were excited and apprehensive months before the baby popped out.

Personally, I think it would be selfish to have a child before marriage.  Aim for what little perfection can be achieved in this imperfect world - get married first.

  2. When I was married, had a house and had a decent income. I also waited until my late 20s (almost 30) so that I would not regret missing out on the freedom of my youth.  One day my husband and I were on vacation and we both realized that the only thing that would make the vacation better would be a little one to play with on the beach. That's when we knew.

  3. It will happen when the time is right, and everything will fall into place.

I have plenty storys of unplanned babies and everything falls into place
