I'm 19, and i'm starting college in a month. I am almost done paying off a car (8 more payments) and that is when I want to move out. But.. i'm scared about not having enough money. I make 11.25/hr at Costco Wholesale, and by the time my car is paid off I will be makin 11.75 if not 12. I cannot work full time right now because of school so I bring in about 1400 a month before taxes(not sure how much after taxes, probably around 1200). I am not in my career job yet, but just a job to make some money. Now, There are apartments in my area for around 560 that are small, and no they are not efficiency apartments. I do want cable/internet, and i'm guessing around $300 a month for groceries for myself? puts me close to 1000, and I also have insurance on my car which is $200. BAM no money. Should I just wait? I'm really dying to get a place. Sadly, I don't want roommate drama.

  1. you should invite a cousin or close friend as a roommate.

  2. I left home at 17

  3. Unfortunately, no one can give you the answer to this question.  It is up to you to decide if you feel ready, and if you are willing to make the sacrifices to get by on your own.  If you are looking for a more comfortable and enjoyable experience, I would suggest waiting.

  4. 18

Sell the car, and move out. You don't have time to drive around if you are working and going to college.

Buy a car when you can afford it. Use a bicycle or public transportation until then.

I know it takes extra time to ride the bus. Study then.
