  1. I got my own horse when I was 7 (I had been sharing a pony with my sister since I was 2 and she was 5) but I had been competing since I was 5. I stopped when I was 9 because I had a hand injury, but 6 months later I recovered from surgery and started riding again

  2. I started riding at age 7 (taking lessons, I mean - I rode before that) and got my first horse when I was 15 or 16.  I entered my first show at about that same time.

  3. I started when I was 6, quit when I was 7 and 8 (due to a nasty buck), and started again as a 9 year old, and I'm still riding now. I will start competing (in jumping) soon, probably in a few months!

  4. I fell in love with horses at age four. A stable was about seven blocks away. I began riding around 11 (after many years of begging), but had to quit because my parents couldn't afford it once my brothers went into college. So that's when I began working at the barn, teaching kids and doing pony rides. I never thought I would get lessons out of it, but eventually they started giving me lessons in exchange for my help. I had my first competition at my barn when I was 12. I haven't gotten my first horse yet (I'm 14), but a month ago I began leasing a wonderful quarter horse mix named Hobbes.

  5. I've ridden on and off all my life on my mom's horse, but I only started taking lessons about a year ago. I've only done one small schooling show at the barn where I ride, but I want to start showing Intro dressage before too long, and I've been trying to get my mom's horse back into shape so that I can show her Training level by next year.

  6. i started riding when i was 7. went to my first OPEN show at age 14 and went to my first "fun show" (no show clothing required) at age 12....took lessons until age 12 then i leased a couple horses and got my first horse at age 14...im 15 now and am still doing open/4h shows (but im still taking lessons w/ my horse now)

  7. I started riding when i was 7. I started competition when i was 9 or 10. I'm 16 and still dont have a horse!

    p.s: i ride english

  8. I started riding horses for real just last year but I had always gone for short little led rides on my gramma's horses. but I started riding for real and alot more just last year! I got my first horse last year and I am still training with him so no competitions yet!

  9. I started riding at about 10 years old.

entered school competitions from about 15 - 28

Got my first horse at 34

Some things are worth waiting for ;-D

  10. Started riding when I was 3.

I started competing when I was 7(lead rein) I have competed in all sorts of classes:breed, showing, hunter, dressage, triathlon, eventing, showjumping, hunter trials, and even a fancy dress or obedient pony from time to time!

I was 10 when I got my first pony on loan.... and 11 when I got my own pony.

  11. My parents were horse people who moved to the city. When I was 6, my parents sent me out to my uncle's stable for a week and I fell in love with his horses. About 2 years after that, my parents bought a property just down the road from my uncle. I got my first horse when I was 12, but I rode my dad's horse before we bought him (Optimus). My brother got one soon after that, and my mom just bought her mare in the fall.

  12. I took lessons for a little over a month when I was 7. Then stopped and continued doing gymnastics till I was 13. Once the gymnastics season was over I started riding again. I have been riding for a year now. I am getting my own horse soon, then I am going to train to race in barrel racing.

  13. I got on my first horse when I was 6, started taking lessons at 9, leased my first horse at 10, got my own horse at 13, got my second horse at 14,  started showing on the A and B circuit at 14, third horse at 16, turned pro trainer at 18, bought and sold lots more horses, quit training at 27, now ride for pleasure only at 40.

  14. I started riding when i was 6, but soon had to quit, since we moved countries. i started up again at the age of 11, but only went once in a while, since the riding school wasnt good. when i moved again, i started taking it more seriously. I started competing in showjumping and dressage when i was almost 12, and got my first horse when i was 12. I owned that horse for 2 years, but she proved to be too difficult, and my parents decided shes to dangerous when she broke my leg. I now own another mare, which im preparing for showjumping competitions (she had competed at 130cm before, but lacks muscle, so i brought her back to basics) and we'll hopefully be competing again from september. Meanwhile, Ive been competing in both disciplines (jumping & dressage) on school horses.

  15. I always rode horses from like 4 years old.  But only little pony rides and always on a lunge line.  I started getting lessons when I was oh, let say, 7.  About a year later I quite so I could get competivily into ice skating.  Then I almost made it to the olympics but quite at the age of 11 1/2 b/c of the pressure.   I am now 13.  And I started riding again, like immediatly after I quite ice skating.  Now I am almost 14 and have had my first horse for about 3 months.  So I have been "actually" riding (like showing and all) for about a year now.  SO that is me! I stared with competing like after about a month of riding.  LOL.  I didn't do very good!  But I still loved it!  LOL.  That is my story!

  16. I rode my first horse when i was 6. He was a stallion named chester.

I got my first horse when i was 13.

I am going to start competing next summer.

  17. I started riding and got my first horse when I was 16 yrs old and started barrels, pole bending, open shows, and trail riding right away, know at 36 just do trail riding:)

  18. I was about 8 or 9 years old. I got my first horse when I was 13 or 14, can't remember. My first show was when I was 15 years old, and it was just a fun show at my barn. lol

  19. i started riding regularly when i was 10 1/2 years old, along with my first horse. i just moved, and my new neighbors were moving also, and couldn't take their horse w/ them, and so my dad let my mom and i take her. i was 11 when i had my first show i think. she was 28 when i got her, and surprisingly she is still alive and well! then after a few months i stopped for about a year or 2 because she actually wasn't that good of a beginners riding horse, but i still kept her.

then 2 years ago (august of 2006) i started riding again, but western gaming instead of just regular riding lessons. then in april of 2007 i got chrome, an early 3 year old. now she's 4 (her birthday is actually today!) i've gamed on her for a year now. then my mom wanted her own horse, and bought my trainer's horse! about a month or 2 ago.

funny thing is, my trainer's neighbor had a foal 4 years ago, and my trainer said that she'd buy her once she's for sale. so when my trainer was ready to sell us her horse, her neighbor's horse was just up for sale to her. so if we bought tulsa, my trainer could buy her dream horse!

now me and my mom are gamers, and we are stuck for life. we've been gaming competitively (well, at least i am) for over a year now.

  20. I got my first at age 11. I ride at home most of the time, trail riding etc.

  22. Started riding at 4.

Did lead rein shows at 4.

Got my first pony who was really "mine" (bought, not loaned) at 7.

  23. I started when I was 171/2 and now Im 181/2... I get an hour lesson every week and will be in my first show next month or so!!!!!
