When did you start figure skating?

When did you start taking lessons? And how long did it take to get your first single axel after you started lessons?

I started lessons in 2nd grade(5th now)

I am not really in any group lessons anymore, I am in private lessons.

I can do my axel perfect now!!!!

i landed my first one about a month ago.

I am working on doubles right now.

i started when i was 12 i've been skating 1year and 11 1/2 mouths so almost 2 years and im wkin on almost all my doubles and i started competing in bigger competitions!!! a couple of mouths ago i placed 4 at regional in non-qualifying and next year my goal is 2 make it in the top 4 and go on 2 sectionals and then nationals and then hopefully start being invited to like grand prix comps.!!!

im only in preliminary right now but im testing 4 pre-juv in February and then juv!!!

it took me a mouth to land my axle clean and about 3 mouths 2 get it consistent

everyone ends up losing their axle a lot of time and it sucks but u end up getting it down every time

i started taking lesson 1 mouth after i started skating

i took privet and group lessons

privet lesson u are able 2 learn a lot more!!!!

wt about u do u skate??? and wt level r u???

maybe next year if u watch nationals on the computer (cause they aren't shown on the tv)

umm..  I started January 2007 and I am in Level Freestyle 4 and I'm 16 years old haven't landed my axel yet, but hopefully I will soon!

The first time I skated, I was 3.  I started lessons at 12.  It felt like it took me forever to land an axel!!  I still hate them!!  Grr.  It probably took me 6 months to land a non-cheated axel.  I was probably taking lessons for about a year or two at that point.

I began skating at age 10 in group lessons, it took me a little over a year to get into private lessons, and then another 7 months after beginning private lessons ( in Freestyle 4) until I landed my first Axel. I would be skating in preliminary (this was my most current test passed before my injury) if I was currently skating, but I have taken the past two years off due to injury.

The younger the better.  This goes for any skill (music, sport, etc..)  Humans are most responsive when they are younger.  

I'd say 7-10 is great age to start practicing... you don't have to be a pro right away, but you'll learn proper techniques.

I started taking lessons as an adult . . . in my mid 20's.  I think I actually "landed" an axel when I was first learning it (which I can't remember exactly)  BUT I guess somehow I freaked out or something because I never really got it consistant after that(meaning "getting it") til like over a year.  It did take a long time.  I skated for about 10 years and stopped as life took over . . . ending at USFSA Adult Gold.

Well I started actually ice skating today. I think I am natural born ice skater tehehe. I got out on the ice since like 2 years ago and did pretty good! I am hoping to take lessons this Jan.

I started when I was 3 and I landed my first axel when I was 6.  I skated until I was 19 and I was competing at the Junior level and landing triple jumps.

I started taking lessons when I was 10. It has been about 1 year and a half or 2 years not quite sure but I can do my axel off ice and on the harness without my coach pulling the rope and now im practicing it without the harness. So i ahould be landing it in about like 3 or 4 months. I am workin on freestyle 5 right now (ISI)
