When did you go out with baby in public. I just wanna go to the mall and buy a few things and go to the park with my husband. Just really dont know when people go out. When did you?

  1. With my first child I waited a month cause I wasn't doing well, but with my second I was out of the hospital in 24 hrs and took her to the park at 3 days.  If you feel good and want to get out then do it.  The baby has your antibodies for the first month so it shouldn't be a problem.

  2. I would say a month.

Just be careful. I don't see any harm to take out at early time but if it is my child i rather be safe and sorry

  3. We started to take Grace out when she was 5 days old. Started to introduce her to the world at a young age.

  4. whenever you feel up to it.  we just had our baby 4 weeks ago and my wife was tired of being in the house after 1 week.  .

  5. my doc's office told me to wait one week (you already have). beyond that, the nurse said to avoid crowded places where people might be compelled to touch the baby. i took ruby everywhere once she turned a week old -- whole foods, the mall, restaurants. just keep her away from others' hands, and it's totally fine. ruby was never sick one day in her life until she was over a year old. this is the best time to be out with them -- birth to 3 months -- when they will still sleep anywhere no matter how much disturbance.  have fun!

  6. It's really fine to go out as soon as you feel ready. I had my son the week before Christmas and we did some last minute Christmas shopping when he was 6 days old. I was still recovering from a c-section, but it felt good to get out of the house.

No need to wait...just go when you feel up to it.

  7. I went out when he was a week old.  The doctor at the hospital told me there was no medical reason for the baby to stay in the house.  Just not to let a lot of people come into contact with him.  It is fine to take the baby out.  We started at a week old and never looked back.  He goes everywhere with us.

  8. I was told I could take my newborn for walks outside as early as the day we brought him home from the hospital.  My doctor said to wait about 4 weeks before taking the baby to large public places like the mall or Target, but we took him to a non-crowded restaurant and a non-crowded store when he was a little over 2 weeks old.  As long as your baby isn't coming into contact with a bunch of people, he/she should be okay.  Just don't let other people touch your baby unless they have just washed their hands or used hand sanitizer.

Congratulations and good luck with your baby!

  9. I went out within the first week, some may criticize that but my baby was born healthy an hearty (9lbs 12oz). Do what makes you comfortable your maternal instincts will let ya know when something doesn't feel right!  Can't stay inside forever!

    Good Luck!

  10. We went out for a walk the day after we got out of the hospital.  Our first trip out in the car was a few days later to the doctor and then lunch.  We also took her to a family party at about 2 weeks.

  11. Our philosophy with our 4 children was always "If the doc lets him/her out of the hospital they're ok to go out in public with us" . Our youngest son accompanied us on a trip from south Texas to Wisconsin when he was 3 days old and he never suffered any ill effects. As long as you're smart about making sure they are protected from inclement weather, direct sunlight, etc. you should be fine.

  12. go out whenever you feel ready. if you and your baby are doing ok then go for it

  13. Owen's first day home we took him for a walk around the neighborhood and his second we took him to the farm where my husband helps out to ride in his first tractor, gotta start him early!!  He was at the mall before he was two weeks old.  As long as you are comfortable and don't push it too much (you will both get tired very quickly!) go out and do what you want!!!  Have fun!

  14. Go out!  At the mall I would probably keep baby in a sling/front carrier to reduce the risk of strangers wanting to paw him, but by all means get out of the house.  The weather is beautiful where I am.

(I had a winter baby so didn't go out, except to the doctor [she had some minor issues at birth and after], for a couple of weeks ... but I'm something of a homebody anyway. And we went out to dinner, had her named at the synagogue, and took a weekend vacation all within the next couple of weeks.

  15. I had my baby out about a week after she was born.  I, too, cannot stand being couped up all day long.  She is now 5 months and a very bright and happy baby, and I hate to say it, we are hardly ever at home!.  I would say go out as soon as you feel ready.  A trip to the park sounds great because fresh air is very good for newborns.  Also, getting out early with baby will help he/she get used to going out and being around other people.  Congrats!

  16. if you feel up for it. and you dress your baby for the weather. You can take your baby out. I had my son around thanksgiving, he was barely a week old when i took him out. Plus i mean once i got home from the hospital, it was just visitor after visitor.

Trust me, i hear ya on being cooped up. I had to get out of the house. So we took the baby over to see the grandparents, and for thanksgiving :-)

  17. Emma was two weeks old when we went out.
