Just wondering about what time is right to start your baby on the cheerios they have for baby's and other little baby snackers? I'm not too sure when it's okay for them to eat those without chocking. I'm a first time mommy ans scared to move my little guy up.LOL

  1. About 9 or 10 months... the cheerios have the lifesaver hole so they can't choke.

  2. i gave my son gerber puffs at about 7 months. they dissolve really quickly so they are great to learn with. also, babies do not need teeth to chew. they learn a gnawing, mashing technique. just give your baby a cheerio or puff while he/she is seated and see how they do. they will let you know when they are ready or not.

  3. When your baby can sit up unassisted and uses his or her little pincer grasp (Can grab a small item with the thumb and pointer finger)

I really liked the Gerber stars.  They were like Cheeris, but they dissolved quicker.  I was always neurotic about choking too LOL

  4. I agree with the Gerber puffs (or the Parent's Choice Wal-Mart brand ones!)...  Our daughter is 6 months old, and loves them!  I am also paranoid about choking, so I tried one myself and they dissolve really quickly.

  5. I let my daughter play with them around 6 months-7 months...they dissolve pretty fast so it is pretty unlikely the baby will choke on them..just cough more likely...just make sure you know the heimlich for infants just in case, it may ease some worried but it is almost impossible to choke on a cheerio (to the point you cannot breathe)...coughing on one is different..

  6. I waited till my kids at least had their first couple of teeth in front to give them something to gnaw with.  Which would have been around 9-11 months.  Of course, I had already started them on cereal and all the pureed baby food.  The first couple of times the cheerios will just float around their mouths and pop back out.  I did try those snack things that come in tall tubes (I can't remember the name), but they dissolve strangely when hit with saliva.  And biter biscuits also get messy, so be sure to put a bib on when using them.  Good luck.  You sound like a great  first time mom.

  7. LOL I bought my 8 1/2 month grandbaby those little puffs. they disslove on the tongue. After squinting 2 times she spit it out it was so funny. I would say at least 9  months.
