Question:

When did you stop feeding your baby Jar foods?

At almost 9 months, my daughter is eating table foods along with jar foods. I was wondering when I can stop the jar foods. They help me to supplement in some fruits and veggies. My family doesn't eat as healthy as we should so I buy baby foods that are healthy for my daughter. If I buy more fruits and veggies I can prepare, can I stop buying baby foods?

  1. as soon as you and the kids ready im guessing lol

  2. My son's pediatrician always told me i could either give him baby food in the jar, feed him straight for the table if he handled it well, or puree veggies, fruit or whatever. He even said that my son would probably like the fresh veggies better. I found that i could puree anything at all in a blender, and he said this was fine. Around your daughter's age. I started weaning him off of jar food. he had it every so often, and by the time he was one, he was completely off of it.

  3. Get yourself a blender and start mashing up veggies.  The baby can also eat cottage cheese, yougurt, ice cream, scrambled eggs, soft toast, bananas, peaches, pears, blueberries, pudding and on and on.  Stop with the jars.  Unless your traveling and need them for convenience.

  4. you can feed her baby food up to when YOU seem okay with her getting enough veggies and fruit. all my kids stoped as soon as they had enough teeth about 12 months.  If you want buy fresh produce and cook it the way you cook others.

    Good Luck

  5. you should quit when your baby gets teeth.

  6. i would wait until my baby was about a year

  7. yep!! thats what I started doing when my son reached 9mths old. I had the same situation so we were relying on jarred foods to make sure he had a balanced diet. after he was 9-10mths old, he ate nothing except table foods. and if you keep a positive attitude and have been giving her a variety of food, I'm sure she'll take to all the new kinds of food quite enthusiastically. :)

it helps alot too when your child starts displaying teething behaviour and acting like she wants to chew and not just eat muck (lol...kind of seems like that sometimes).

  8. my daughter was off jar foods at a 11 months

  9. i never started.

you can stop anytime. Use them to help you as you write but you can stop using them if you buy more fresh food to prep yourself.

  10. i think so as long as she gets nutrients she needs

  11. I quit buying them at 8 months when my son started eating mostly table foods.  However, I bought them in bulk, so I had a bunch in the cabinet.  I'm still using them up, so I send them to daycare with him to have for lunch.

I think you can stop buying them now, as long as you buy healthy foods for your baby to eat! :)

  12. I don't know.

  13. My kids ate it until they were about a year and half but with table food as well. Its really good for them so just keep it up so long as they are willing to eat it.

  14. Yes, you can. Especially if she is getting her teeth in, then she needs to be eating food to help strengthen them. Just make sure you are giving her the healthy stuff she needs. Check with her peeds. doc. first, but my kids  were about that age when they started to eat vitamins, Flintstones and stuff. And now the new Flintstones have Choline to support healthy brain function. They even come in a "gummy" version.

    Good luck, and God Bless!!

P.S. my kids were taken completely off jar food no later than 10mths.

  15. it is not a big deal...

u can stop bying baby food from now ...

but u have to feed him a healthy food

prepare some fruits and feggies for him and make sure that all the food that u r giving him as soft as the baby food ...

  16. my daughter didn't like baby food other than fruit and squash. So she was eating what ever she could gum around that age and she did fine. So yea as long as she can eat it without choking.

  17. I haven't had one yet.  When I do, I'll get back to you and let you know.

  18. you should stop feeding her at about 2 years but if you like feeding her jar foods then keep doing it but the older she gets the more you need to feed her
