  1. My son is 5 & I still hold his hand. I can't imagine stopping soon, he'll still run sometimes.

  2. oldest is 3 and i dont think we'll stop for a while.

  3. I've started doing this age = steps away.

I hold my children's hands at the PARKING LOT at all times and my oldest is now 7.  But if we are in a slow parking lot and possibly on a path that can be walked on I will allow him as many steps away as their age.  My oldest is 7 years old and is allowed no further than 7 steps away from my person.  I remind him to stay 7 steps in front of me and no more.  CROSSING A STREET I would hold their hands at all times.

I think that by the time he's ten it'll seem like he's walked far off enough to be capable to just stand on his own (without holding hands) and be a little man.  Most of all depends on how much you trust him.

  4. When they start DRIVING through parking lots...  Mine are 19 ( he drives, so he is on his own). But my hand-holders are 13, 10, 8, and 2.  The youngest ones hold my hands and then they each hold someones hand... OR we grab a "buggy" from the parking lot. 2 yr old In buggy, and then 8 and 10 hiold sides of buggy....13 yr old walks next to us. Hope I covered my answer...

  5. I would say around 7 years old. Or when the child can be trusted. If you can't trust the child not to run into the street, then don't stop holding their hands. My oldest daughter is 6 years old and we still hold her hand when we are out and about. Our middle daughter is 2 years old, so her had is always held. Our youngest son is on his way(due next month) so we will probably do the same with him.

  6. I held my two oldest children's hands (both girls) Until they were each about 14, and got embarrassed. My oldest son (now 16.) Stopped holding my hand when he was about 10 because it wasn't cool anymore. I assume my 6 year old will stop holding my hand around that age too. If I could, I'd hold my kid's hands until they were 30!

  7. whenever your kids want to, heck im 15 and i still hold hands a bit with my parents, so let them tell you

  8. stop doing it at the age or 9-10 bc then its just embarrising and u have to trust the fact that they could see on their own....but if their small...give it maybe a year or two more.

  9. My daughter is almost 11 years old. So far she still holds my hand from time to time (not all of the time). She especially loves holding hands with me and her dad. Like last night walking downtown to view the fireworks display. I love it!

  10. When your child starts going to school,

he/she feels to more independent: the reson why they most-likely let loose of holds...

It could be at 4 - 5 years old.

During this years, it is better for them to develop such confidence in them. Soon enough they would seek for your hand and ask help again. Teenage perhaps, build good communication with them :)

  11. when it comes to holding if for safety, I think I quit when she was 7. But now that she is 15 she will still grab my hand and start skipping. its kinda funny actually.

  12. I dont know, I still hold my 11yr olds hand in the parking lot from time to time just out of habbit.

  13. i haven't stopped -hand holding is a wonderful thing.  it's human touch which is sweeter with a child regardless of the age.

  14. I still hold their hands - not so much for safety as affection - I have an 11 year old and twin 9 year olds.
