How old were your children when you stopped packing them snacks and drinks when you went out? If you still do pack snacks/drinks, what do you normally take?

  1. My son is almost 2. I usually throw a muffin bar or 100-calorie pack of something in my bag for a "just in case". I also have this cool thing that goes over a banana so it doesn't get crushed in your bag, so sometimes I throw in a banana.

I also always bring his water cup wherever we go.

  2. My son is 15 months and I still pack snacks/drinks for him.  I still do this for him only because there are still some things he can't eat. I would probably say between the age two and three when they can eat and drink mostly everything and when they can understand that they might have to wait a little bit until they can eat.

  3. my daughter is 5 and i still pack snacks. My nephew is 14 and i still pack snacks. regardless of age, i always carry water or capri suns...and i usually grab some chips or crackers. I also store the little pack snacks in my car for emergencies. so i guess it never stops.

  4. I never pack snacks.  We eat regular meals and if we are hungry, we will stop at fruit stands for fruit.  The kids always drink water for meals, and they say that water is their favorite drink.  We try to focus on healthy eating with the occasional treat.  If any of us want ice cream, we have some, but a small cup or cone.  None of us feel deprived.  I don't believe kids need a bunch of sugar snacks and drinks to keep them full.  Plan meal times and snack times and no one is hungry.
