Question:

When did you stop work?

Just wondering when you felt that work was becoming too much? I don't know how some woman can work right up to their due date. I wish in a way I didn't stop work so soon. It gives you too much time on your hands and you get too anxious.. I think that next time I get pregnant I will be able to work until the 6th-7th month. That is in a factory job.. How is it for everyone else?

  1. it depends on your job and your family situation.  :-)

  2. How early did you leave?  I thought I left too early at 35 weeks.  It was the longest 5 weeks of my life!!  I really don't think I could have worked much more than 37 weeks (also a factory job).

  3. I wanted to leave work about a month before my due date, but I was busy training my replacement, so I worked until the day I was induced. I left work, went to eat with my husband, went home and packed and headed to the hospital.

  4. im a server and i worked until my 8th month...after that would have been horrible ! i got huge and couldnt lift trays anymore:)

  5. From 7 am to 5 pm got home at 6 everynight and had my baby the day after. It was a lot!

  6. I had planned on working all the way through. But I quit at 7 months and I'm glad I did. I get so tired and my back aches all the time. I'd be miserable working 8 hours a day.

  7. I worked 2 jobs until 1 week before I was due, and ended up getting induced 4 days before I was due, from high blood pressure.

I never went back to one of the jobs, and switched to full time at the hospital.

  8. I work in an office at a computer all day, so I don't do anything physically difficult. I'm almost 34 weeks and I'm planning on working right up to my due date but I may work from home the last couple of weeks. I live right by my hospital but work 20 minutes away. I don't want to take a chance of going into labor at work.

At this point, I'm just burnt out. I've saved all of my vacation all year so I'll get paid for part of the time I'm out so I've not had a break. It's tough watching everyone else take a week vacation here and there and not getting to do the same. Of course, it will all be worth it to be able to take that time off to spend with the baby! I'm just counting the days. =)

  9. I planned on working until exactly a month before my due date. I was due June 24th so May 24th I planned on stopping BUT my baby was on a different plan and he came May 16th so I worked up until he came. I wish I had more time to organize and clean but that is ok.

  10. i am 35 weeks and still working. but i work a desk job, tho it is 12 hours a day. i am planning on working until i have the baby because i want to maximize the time i get to spend at home with the baby after he or she is born. i don't want to "waste" any of my maternity leave just hanging around the house doing nothing which is exactly what i would do if i were to leave work early.

  11. I worked until the day that they induced me (I worked on Monday, and they induced me Monday night).  But this was a fairly stress-free desk job in a private office, where I could put my feet up, etc.   But if I worked in a factory setting, I think 6-7 months would be all I could have done!

  12. First pregnancy - I worked in an office and worked up to week 39.

This pregnancy - I worked in a retail environment and worked up to 6 months.

You need to base the decision on how you feel and what you can afford. Others tend to be judgemental about this issue, but only you can decide what's best for you and your family.

  13. I went to work the morning I delivered but it was not a very physical job. I wanted to work as till I delivered because I did not have a lot of paid leave and no maturnity leave. It worked out good for me but it was also my second child. I was not working with the first or third child. Good luck with your pregnancy.

  14. My last day is Monday, but I work from home running a home child care. It won't be too big of a deal though, since my husband makes $22 an hour 40 hours a week. It'll still be smooth sailing. Our income will only drop by $400 a month.

  15. i worked until the day i had both my  boys. no work means no money in my house. even went back a week early after i had them
