Question:

When did you switch from diapers to pull ups, easy ups?

My son will be 2 in October... he has shown an interest in potty training... he likes to try and go "pee pee" whenever Daddy is in there and during daycare they practice 3-4 times a day.

A couple of days ago, he peed in the bathroom... he did not have a diaper on, and he was standing on his stool at the toilet... he peed all over himself rather than in the toilet, but I saw this as progress none the less! Hahaha!

I was just getting ready to buy a jumbo pack of diapers online, but then I realized, maybe I should be moving onto pull ups... or am I way ahead of myself?

Any advice? Thanks!

  1. I never used pull ups.. we went straight to under pants with rubber pants and diapers at bed time or if we were going on a long outing.. he will get it maybe throw a few cheerios in the potty to teach him to aim.. tell him to shoot the cheerios.. it helps and then you aren't cleaning the bathroom everytime he potties

  2. I stuck with diapers at naps and bedtime, and Gerber cloth training pants for potty training during the day.  I never used Pull Ups for potty training, but we do use them occasionally now when my daughter goes thru phases of having multiple accidents at the sitter's at naptime, to avoid getting the bed and everything wet.  My daughter is old enough to know that a Pull Up is not a diaper, and that it's not ok to wet them, it's just in case of accidents.  They are only a last resort for us.  I would continue buying the diapers for now, but supplement with the training underpants during the day if you wish to try potty training.

  3. i never used pull ups....when my son was a little over 2 i just took his diaper away and put on underwear. he peed himself a few times and didnt like being wet so went to the toilet. he pooped himself one time and i made him sit in the tub and rinse his underwear and never had an accident after that. i just put a diaper on him at nite

  4. Never.  I used the old training pants.

Pull ups are just like using a diaper.  When using training pants the child is more uncomfortable when they have an accident.  I think that potty training goes much faster when using training pants.

This about how rich the person who invented pull ups is getting, When all he really invented is a pull up diaper.

Yes you will have more laundry to do with normal training pants but they are much better and cheaper than pull ups.

  5. When he is home let your son do around the house half naked and will be easy to potty train him.The diapers will not help him to be potty train. Or you can let him stay in a wet diaper to the point he want to take it off. If he shows interest than you need to be patient for him  to go wee wee and award him each time he goes to the bathroom. Pull ups are easy during the day and stop buying diapers and buy him cheap underwear and let him wear them during the day. Is work but, will pay off. In day care than pull ups. Good luck   At night don't put  pull ups on does not work as well as a diapers. Maybe use a cheap brand of diapers only at night and go from there.

  6. You're a lucky woman!  For a boy to be interested in potty training at this age is great.  I say go with it.  Pull ups are a bit more expensive but worth it if it helps to get him potty trained without such the diaper hassle.

  7. If you use pull-ups, you will need diapers for sleeping.  I advise you to skip them all-together or only use them for a very short time.  My son was showing readiness signs and we put him in pull-ups at the age of 2.  At 2 1/2 we took away all pull-ups and put him in big boy underwear, he was 100% potty trained 48 hours later.  I think I'll be skipping the pull-ups this time.

  8. It can be easier to just go straight onto pants (I think you call them knickers?) Personally, I think Pampers are just trying to get more money out of parents with these Pull ups. They are not a necessity.

  9. A little too ahead of yourself.  Do the potty training for a little bit first and see how well he does.  If he starts peeing in it consistently (like before bedtime, or in the morning, etc.) then switch.  However, a lot of people will tell you to skip the pull ups altogether.  It really depends on how much YOU want to clean up.

My daughter potty trained at 3 and I put her in pull-ups in preschool.  Once she was doing really good and at the advice of her teacher, I switched her to underwear and used pull-ups at night until about 3 1/2.

  10. I never switched...I went from diapers to potty training (real undies!) Pull-ups are just easy to remove diapers and many parents find it difficult to potty train with them...If he is showing interest in the potty, why not put him in undies and go for it?
