My son is 11 months and 23 pounds. Do I wait until the day he turns 12 months...or longer? When did you turn your baby's car seat around? Also - when did you stop formula and start on milk? Thanks :)

  1. I turned the car seat around when my sons heads were strong enough to handle sitting up as when you turn your seat around you (well with my one you could) tilt it back and then when they got older then you sat it up straight, so I think that I turned them around around about 6-8 months.

With the milk it was after 12months.  May be ask you doctor for advice on this one, you will more than likely need to do it gradually.

  2. I turned my sons car seat around when he reached 20 pounds. That was according to the instructions. At one year is when you want to introduce milk. My son didn't like plain milk so I made his bottle with 4oz formula and 4oz milk. He drank that OK. I continued to try him with plain milk every now and then. He is now 21mo and he finally likes plain milk.

  3. I REALLY ENCOURANGE YOU TO ASK YOUR SON'S PEDIATRICIAN OR CHECK THE AMERICAN PEDIATRICS ASSOCIATION.

o sorry for the caps lock, i wasn;t yelling lol

these answers are wrong, don;t listen to them please.

  4. i have four children i turned the car seats around when they reached 20 pounds and formula was ended at the first year i changed to whole milk which my doctor informed is best for one year since they need the fatty acids to grow better

  5. I turned the car seat for my youngest when she was about 11 months. She was so tall that her legs were all scrunched up and she was straining to sit up. She was alot happier after I turned it! My older one I honestly can't remember. I think I turned it right when he turned 1 but that was so long ago I'm not sure.

I stopped formula for both at 11 months.

  6. I wouldn't turn it around until your son is 1. Their neck muscles are not strong enough to keep their neck from breaking in an accident under that age of one. Why risk it? I think because he is already 23 pounds, once he turns one, you should be fine with being able to turn it around, but not before. As far as the formula/milk situation, I breastfed and my daughter refused to take milk or formula until she was 2 and saw other kids doing it at preschool. So, we had issues! But, I started trying to get her to drink milk around the age of 1. In terms of when to start milk, I would just listen to your son's cues. If he doesn't have many gastrointestinal problems, then I think it would be fine to start. If he is sensitive, then I might wait a little while, or take it very slow when introducing milk.

  7. my son was 12 months

  8. i turned it around on his birthday, and i stopped formula a week before his birthday.

they say the baby has to be a year old and 20lbs before you turn it. my son was a year and a little under 20lbs.

  9. Not until my daughter was 20 pounds, which was 2 months past her 1st birthday.  My son is bigger--10 months now and almost 20 pounds, but I will keep it facing backward until he is a year old.  The pediatrician told me they should be at least one year AND at least 20 pounds.
