When did your baby first recognize their name?

Also, my son is named after my husband. Would it take him a longer time to recognize his name, seeing as my husband responds to the name too? Plus, some people call my son by his middle name instead.

I would say really really reconized it at about 3 months.

The average time that babies respond to their names being called is between 6 and 8 months. My baby just turned 6 months and now recognizes her name. If a baby has lots of nicknames and different people calling him different things, it may take a little longer for him to realize it's him you are talking to, but not much. Your husband having the same name shouldn't have an effect.
