Question:

When did your baby start cereal?

I know a baby that was put on cereal before 4 months. My baby is going on 3 months and she drinks about 5oz. I'm not going to put her on cereal until the doc says its time. She told me not to give her more than 5oz but sometimes she seems extremely hungry and aggravated if I stop at 5oz.

  1. Six months old.  Babies aren't ready for solids before then.

However, I am not sure why your pediatrician is telling you to stop feeding her at five ounces.  If she's still hungry, then give her more formula.

  2. well your doctor is wrong to tell you how many oz your daughter should drink.  avg for a baby is 2X or 2.5X the babys weight (if my son is 12 lbs he should drink 24-30 oz a day)  and thats if its avg.  but some babies need more!  But some people give cereal at 4 months and some do 6 months.  It depends on what your baby can handle

  3. if your baby wants more then give her a bit more... every baby is different.  My sister didn't follow the doctor's advice verbatim.  She followed her intuition most of the time.  No one knows your baby better than you :)

  4. Let her drink until she is full. At 4 months old, my son was going through a major growth spurt. He ate a lot for what seemed like forever, but then slowed down drastically. Feed your baby more if she wants more. 6 months is the time that solids can be introduced, although some doctors say 4 months (most do say 6 months though).

  5. u can give her 1tbls of very thin cereal. i have friends who have done that or even fed them veggies nd fruit they are 2 and 5 now and are perfectly fine

  6. my son is 3 months he eats cereal in the morning and at night he also has 8oz bottle in between

  7. Feed your baby until they are full.  My baby is only 7 weeks old and already drinks 4 oz.  I am sure by the time he gets to 12 weeks he will be drinking more than 5 oz.  You don't feed your baby cereal until she/he is six months.

  8. i started at 4 1/2 mths.  I started a little earlier as my doctor suggested to do so as my baby wasnt pooing very often often would go as long as 2 weeks at a time plus we started having some issued around sleep patterns.  It definitly fixed the poo problem but hasnt made any difference for the sleeping.

  9. Hi!

Every baby is different. My daughter had 6oz then cereal in her bottle at night. It will not hurt her. Do what you feel is best..ive come to realize that every doctor says different things about EVERYTHING!

  10. My daughter started on cereal at 4 months.  Her doc said she was ready.  She can sit up tho.  She will be 5 months on the 27th and we are doing great with the step 1 food.  It's up to you and your doc tho.  My doctor also said to let her eat all she wants.  I've never heard of a doctor saying to limit a baby on how much they eat.  To me that sounds kinda crazy.  I'd say if you don't wanna start her on food at least let her drink as much formula/breastmilk as she wants.  I don't like to stop when I'm still hungry... do you?  GOOD LUCK!!
