And whats the go then? My sons just turned 1, and was just curious, he uses a sippy cup for his drinks during the day, and he has three bottles, one at breakfast, another at about 11 and another before bed. Im gonna get rid of the 11am one soon, but what happens at night because he usually has the last bottle and falls asleep on it - he cant really do that with a sippy cup, right? Thanks for your answers!

  1. my son was 15 months i would just give him the bottle at  nap time and at bed time. i then started giving him milk in a sippy cup just like a bottle that helped a lot.

  2. 12 years old.

  3. I stopped giving my son the bottle at completely before he was 12 months old.  Starting at 10 months, I gradually started to eliminate one of the bottle and then by 12 months he was completely off of the bottle.  I am sure if he is used to taking the sippy cup he can fall asleep on it.  Also, they have the sippy cups that have the top shaped like a nipple so it still seems like a bottle but it helps with the transition.  I think Nuby makes them and it comes with a nipple top and a soft sippy top.  By 12 months old, I also did away with the bottle right before bed so I didn't have that issue.  Also, since he has turned 12 months, I tried to offer him a bottle once or twice when he was not feeling well, but he wouldn't take it.  He would put it in our sink then go to the cabinet where I keep his cups and point.  Now he is 17-months old and when he sees a bottle, he says 'Baby' which is wonderful since I am expecting twins in February.  I have a friend with a daughter 2 months younger than my son and she is trying to take her off the bottle and she eliminated the daytime bottles for the most part, but hasn't been able to get he daughter to give up the night time bottle at all.

  4. You do get the no-spill cubs that he can use at night but I think he is still a bit young, wait another 2 months before you start. Remember it can be very dramatic for them.

  5. I started at 10 months, once I stopped breastfeeding.  My son had been both breast and bottle fed and I stopped the bottle all together and got the best sippy to transition from bottle to sippy.  They are Nuk brand and I got them from Target.  I tried to find a link for it to show you, but I didn't see one.  They come in a 2 pack, just colored see-through plastic with a soft clear nipple and are spill-proof.  It helps the baby learn that they don't have to suck anymore to get their milk or whatever, if they hold the sippy in their mouth correctly the liquid will flow.  I love them.  Nuk has a new transition cup as well that looks really good, The Nuk Learner Cup.  (Link for this new cup I put below) You'll have to buy a couple different cups before you get one that he's going to be comfortable with enough to be satisfied when you give him his night time sippy.  It can be done.

  6. he gave up the bottle completely at 11 months, the one before bed was the hardest it use to soothe him to sleep. I guess you can do that with a sippy cup but I started to get worried about my son's teeth rotting since my nephew's front tooth did as a result of long bottle use.

  7. We did the two a day until age 3 with Similac Go and Grow formula, but also like you did the sippy cup.
