How did you soothe him/her ? How long did it take from when it started until the tooth actually popped out ? My daughter is 5 months, think she's teething, feverish lately, fussy, chewing on everything. Seeing her feeling icky, hurts me. I'm a new mom. Thanks for your answers !

  1. This sounds like what my daughter just went through.  she is 10 months and just got both bottom teeth at the same time.

However I thouht for the last 5 months they were coming.   Allow your child to chew lots of different things, they like that.  (Baby safe of coarse)

  2. :) Glad to know I'm not alone!!! When Ian's 2nd bottom tooth came in I nursed him often bc it seemd to be the only thing that would calm him. Also...we gave him a silicone pacifier (not sure if she uses a paci or not)....he didn't suck on it but he chewed on it like crazy and it seemed to help. Best of luck!!! I feel your pain!

  3. Oh boy...my little guy started "teething" at about 6 months and he just turned 10 months. As of today, he has NO teeth. However, he's been working on them for a long time. We saw his doc last week for a checkup and she said it would be a while before they broke through. She couldn't see or feel anything near the surface, however, they are SO SWOLLEN!  Poor little dude.

He is super grouchy, whiny, and he doesn't sleep well at night. It's been so difficult because he was all smiles until 6 months old!  I use Humphrey's teething tablets and they have one or two other brands at the health food stores. Try Whole Foods, or Wild Oats. Also, let her chew on cold teethers. Carrots are also great, as long as you are supervising her. Give her the fatter end of a decent sized carrot, after the stem is cut off.  My son loves this.

I give him Tylenol on his worst days. Only one dose though. It's hard on their little livers if you use it too often.

I hope she pops out a tooth or two soon. I keep hearing that once they come through the baby get's more adjusted or used to the teething sensation/pain. Good luck and congrats on your new baby girl!

  4. Shes been teething since about 3 months but its getting progressivly worse now.  she'd rather chew on her bottles than drink them.  Try cold washcloth, teether rings, chewy toys, fozen veggie bags while shopping, ice chips, baby orajel

  5. well my baby started having uncontrolable crying fits at around 3 months. i knoticed that his mouth was drooling everywhere. he was such a miserable baby. 5 months he cut his first tooth. and to help it i would rub it with my finger. he loved it. he was too young to really use a teething ring for what it was for so i also let him hold and chew on a wet wash clothe. that really soothed him. theres really not that much else you can do, of course tylenol.

  6. She started at about 3 months, but it got a lot worse about a week ago, then it got terrible about 3 days ago.  Just tonight she popped two teeth! I am thrilled, it was hard to watch her be in that much pain.

Stock up on teething rings so you can rotate them.  I tied baby washcloths onto those plastic links that you can use to hang things up, then I dipped them in water and put them in the back of the refrigerator.  She loved them! I also bought a baby toothbrush and used it to massage her gums, that seemed to work when she first started teething, then it got to be too painful for her.  I got her a teething binkey and she seemed to like that a lot.  It's almost like a regular binkey, but the sides are nubby and soft like a teething ring.  She would suck on it for a while, then flip it around and chew on it, then flip it around and suck on it, and so on.

In the end you just have to wait it out, it's hard, but it will get better.

  7. 5 months that a bit early i know u say it's late girl is not or is it it's hard being a first  time mum

  8. unfortunately her first popped out of the gum at exactly ten weeks; we can't find a chewable thing for her tiny mouth, she still has a strong ''spit it out' reflex, so we are only able to give her tylenol and go through a  lot of laundry bc of the freakin' endless drool

    EDIT:

above poster...our doc said she could have infant tylenol every four to six hours as needed; she doesn't need it that often, but if you need it more than once a day,  u might ask you ped, bc it should be safe to use per mine....she's only 2 mos, so she's a lot younger than ur babe...course she is wayyy too young for oragel or anything else, although his partner said i could give her motrin, i thought she was too young, so we have stuck with the tylenol...

i think some just do it a lot slower than others, ours started drooling profusely 2-3 weeks before her tooth and is still a water faucet! we go through bibs and clothes like crazy just from the drool soaking the bibs and sliding down and under her bibs to her clothes and we haven't seen any others trying to break free so far....and she still gets uncomfy and fussy at times and it is still swollen and it has been at least 2 weeks since  it actually broke through...if she's not easily settled (she's usually a VERY happy babe) and we put our finger in and she goes to chewing like crazy, we give her tylenol and in an hour or two we have our happy, wet baby back...gl to everyone, this is def not fun! for us, or them...:)

  9. 5 1/2 months and now we have two little teeth poking through.  My baby was fussy for about 4 days before he got them.  I'm feeling pretty lucky.

I'm wondering if some of the above comments about children being fussy for months as a result of teething might actually be something else.

  10. My daughter was 6 months and my son about 5 months when we first noticed sighns but then it was a least another month before anything came through, a wet washer for them to suck i found great and the gel for the teething also works well, but not all babies.

  11. First tooth at 4 months. Sooked for about a week on and off. When the tooth cut through the gum he was back to normal. He got a tooth roughly every month since.

7 and a 1/2 months now and it looks like 4 teeth are coming at once. He is very distraught.

I use bongela and cold chew toys. Panadol when he's really distressed.
