  1. The supposed link between .the MMR jab and autism was based on data from only 12 patients. Dr. Andrew Wakefield (a British gastroenterologist) and colleagues speculated that MMR vaccine may have been the possible cause of bowel problems which led to a decreased absorption of essential vitamins and nutrients which resulted in developmental disorders like autism. No link was proven

Oh, and Dr Wakefield is currently undergoing a GMC disciplinary hearing, charged with serious professional misconduct; he could be struck off. He argues that the possibility of a link ;merited attention'. I'm sure he was sincere in believing in the link, but on very little evidence, now discredited, he threw thousands of parents into a panic and I bet many will still not allow their children to have the MMR - we can only hope this doesn't result in an epidemic

  2. Most children have autism because it is hereditary. The link between the MMR vaccine and autism has been very discredited and cannot be taken seriously. My daughter was born with autism and I knew she was different the moment she was born.

  3. Since the cause of autism has not been established, no one knows for sure when onset occurs.

However, autism is believed to be genetic which would mean it is present at birth. Some cases I have read suggests everything occurs normally until around the age of three. A recent study I find interesting is the one in which brain studies have been done. They show that the brain of an autistic person is much smaller than average. If the brain suddenly stopped growing and developing, or simply stopped growing at the normal rate due to genetics or something environmental in nature, then that would explain the syndrome.

A link between vaccinations has never been scientifically proven. It still remains a theory.

  4. Autism existed before the MMR vaccine.

  5. it hasn't been proved safe yet, but

since Thimerosol (Mercury derivative used as a preservative) was removed from most vaccines-the autism rate has continued to go up-that suggests that it isn't the thimerosol as suspected.

But our environment is heavily polluted with mercury and other poisonous substances.

I get the impression that children need to be genetically predisposed to autism (just like you cna be predisposed to cancer, heart disease).  It might not be a specific mutation in the DNA-maybe a weakness...

When children are genetically predisposed and exposed to a 'trigger' the autism develops----for some children it could be something in the vaccine-for others-something in the water or milk or fruit or.......-something that is normally harmless-but if you have the predisposition-then you get the disorder

It may be a coincidence-that autism seems to develop around teh time of vaccines-

there is a number of children with autism that showed signs musch earlier-before they were given most vaccines

  6. It's not a disease.  It's a neurological disorder.  You can't catch it.

  7. there is not enough proof to suppor that idea...

  8. Hi.

Autism is NOT mostly genetic, it can also be caused by brain injury.  There is no widely accepted evidence that links it with any vaccine, but neither has a link been disproven.

  9. Autism is mostly genetic. You can't get it.
