When dining out "Dutch" Style?

Is it appropriate for one of the parties to pay for the beverages?

  1. i always understood Dutch to mean everyone pays for him or herself-dinner,drinks, dessert etc.


  2. "Dutch" generally means everyone pays for their own tab.

    If you want to buy a round of drinks for everybody,

    I will not turn you down, but

    I would not bet that you are going to pay for the whole bill!

  3. Dutch just means that everyone pays for what they themselves order.  

    If you are feeling generous, when you eat out Dutch style tell your friends you'll pay the whole tip.  Grabbing the tip is a nice thing to do & it's not as big as an expense as paying for everyone's meal.

  4. It is not consistant with going dutch to pay for anything the other party is consuming. However, if it is a small expense it would be seen (at least by me) as friendly.
