  1. Usually 8pm. Berlin just passed a law that allows shops to be open 24 hours a day for 10 days a year....i.e. for christmas shopping.

  2. 1800 hours---6 p.m.

  3. It all depends on where you are and what shop you mean:

    - Most supermarkets and big stores- even in very rural areas- close at 8p.m. (Mon- Sat)

    - Butcher s shops or bakeries (or other small shops) mostly close at 6p.m. (Mon- Fri) or at noon on a Sat... but many supermarkets have their own butcher s shop/ bakery so you can buy it there until 8p.m.

On Sunday, all shops are closed, the only exception are bakeries, they re open from 7a.m to 10a.m. or sometimes till noon.

Furthermore, you can buy most of the necessities (including fresh bread) at  gas stations which are often open 24/7

When there are special events (such as the Fifa World Cup or also in the weeks before Christmas) most cities extend the opening- hours until 10p.m.

By the way, most of the German "Bundesländer" are currently about to carry out a reform of the opening-hours, they want to allow the shops to be open until 10p.m.

  4. Generally in larger cities, stores close anywhere from 6 to 8 p.m. In the smaller villages and towns most everything closes around 6.  I was in Germany this time last year and I expected things to shut earlier, but it seems like this time of year things stay open a bit later getting ready for the holidays.  If you have a specific store in mind I could find out for you.

  5. Bigger stores close mo-fr at 8pm.

    saturday at 8 pm too.

some stores may close at 6 or 7pm.

sundays and all german holidays there are closed, you may find gasstations and restaraunts open.

berlin has there stores open until 10 pm some are open 24/7 its a 3 month trial period .

    Hope that helps

    just  in  railroadstations,  gasstations(Aral)...etc...

  8. Some of these answers or partialy incorrect...

A new law has passed now in some regions of Germany allowing the Stores to Open and Close as they wish..

For instance in Berlin there is a Shopping mall that is open 24 / 7...

Just don't ask me which one?!... :)

Other parts of Germany are gonna catch up with passing this law and by Christmas 60% of German stores will be up and running around the clock...

Finally the U.S. comes to Germany...
