I've been working for 3 days so far... All they have been doing is grill and line work. The first day we watched vids on how to put together burgers, work the grill, work the food line. Then after, Ive been making burgers on the grill and making the other fried food.... When are they gonna let me work as the cashier or window?

  1. Stay at the grill line until you can do it blindfolded.

Then apply for a job on a cruise ship.

    They pay megabucks.

  2. talk to the officer in charge...

  3. Ask the manager.

  4. Ask your supervisor.

  5. Not completely sure I never did drive-thru when I worked at McDonald's. When I used to work there, all I did was grill and I made that clear with them, I didn't to be up there facing the customers.

I say just talk with them, if they want you to know more, ask about some of their tutorials and tests you can pass and take them and study.

    Good luck.

  6. Why don't you talk to the manager and ask him/her.  Tell him/her that is what you really want to do.

I use to work there back in 1990.  I did the drive-thru cashier mostly.  I also did counter and grill.  You will probably do all jobs at one time or another.  Just do what they tell you to the best ability that you can and talk to the manager.

  7. They put you where you are needed the most but they will gradually train you to do everything. Thats what happened with my sister.

  8. Maybe you should ask the manager or anyone in charge of you.

  9. wow if u are only there a few days i wouldnt dream yet of going to drive thru.

Drive Thru is a fast paced, difficult part of the job that u need to be 100% focused on in order to do it right. I work at a McDonald's in Ireland and we have a system called "shift into drive thru" our aim is to have every car in and out of th drive thru (happy and satisfied) in 90 seconds.

it works, its difficult sometimes, all three windows have to work fast and together to make this a reality.

i am the runner (usually) in my store, i assemble the food for the cars and have to keep my DT team motivated to work faster. there's alot of work involved and can be very stressful and tiring.

id say you will work on service before Drive Through to learn the steps and learn how to handle customers and their many many complaints.

I didnt work in Drive Thru for about a year..around 12 months.

and now 2 and a half years later at 18 im the best DT person they have.

so give it time, if its something you want to do then u will!

just remember to stay motivated, work with initiative and speed and take everything they throw at you and u should do great!

  10. lol... i work at mcdonalds so i know all about this.

in order to work at drive thru, you have to know the register really well. they'll have you watch more videos about how to work it and where a lot of the items are. after you try counter for a few days they'll probaby put you on second window (aka the place where the person hands out the food). drive thru is really the last place that you get to try to work at.

you have to be very fast and multitalented to work drive thru, but learning it is very rewarding because back window, once you get used to it, is the easiest place to work.

you probably want to talk to your manager about trying register, or you might get stuck in grill forever. (and i'm pretty sure everyone hates grill)
