When do I go through customs?

I'm on my first overseas trip in South Korea. To get to my home airport, I have to make a connection in Dallas. When do I go through customs? It is at my entry in the United States in Dallas or not until I reach my final destination? If it is in Dallas, does that mean I have to claim my baggage, and then re-check it? Thanks.

  1. It is at the airport of entry into the US, which would be in Dallas. Yes you have to reclaim and recheck your luggage. Once you go through customs there will be an airline representative there to either take your bag or direct you where to drop them.

  2. It should be a very easy process. You'll simply follow everyone else from the plane in Dallas, through baggage pick up, through customs, to bag check in, and on to your connecting flight.

  3. You go through customs at your first port of entry to the US, even if it's not your final destination, or even if you're flying out of the country from there, yes you have to claim your baggage and re-check it, and you have to go through security again.
