When do I have to stop eating carbs?

I know that eating a lot carbs late at night is horrible for you, but when should I stop? Some say I should stop around 2-3 hours before I go to sleep, others say I should only eat carbs in the first half of my awake time.

I've been consuming most of my carbs in the first half, but how many grams are okay in the second? I've been doing like 140-160 g in the first half (6:00 am-2:00pm), and 10-20 g in the second (usually 2:00 pm-10:00 pm).
