  1. Here, Windsor, Ontario, Canada - I had to take the baby to the doc who delivered him then have his office get into contact with the ped that i choose...

  2. About 7-8 months is a good time. The doctor will want to see baby a day or two after being released from the hospital. My son was a preemie and I had to choose a doctor for him before bringing him home from the hospital (He was in there for 10 weeks) and 2 days after he came home he went in for his first appointment.

  3. now would be good

  4. I would start looking now...ask your Doctor to recommend some in your area.  It's never to early to start and you also want your child's pediatrician to come to the hospital for an after birth checkup

  5. You should start "shopping" around soon. When you give birth, they will ask who the Pediatrician is so they can discharge your baby. Ask your OB if they have some sort of partnership or can refer any Md for your baby. Thats's the best route to go.

  6. Hospitals typically want you to have one in order to have them do the initial check-up at the hospital. They have one there for you if you don't but it's still a good idea. You have many many appointments to make when the baby is 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and so on. It's good to call a few the last month or so of your pregnancy and make sure you pick one before you go to the hospital. If you want to make it easier for you, call your ob/gyn. They sometimes have a list of pediatricians to recommend.  Also, you can try the hospital where you will deliver. They'll have a list as well.

  7. I went around 35 weeks I think. Ask your ob/gyn, they might have a good recommendation.  Then call the office and set up an interview appointment.  The receptionist will tell you how far booked out they are, and you can judge from there.  Good luck!
