i just got birth control from my doctor this morning, but i completely forgot to ask her when exactly i should start.

i know you're supposed to start the sunday following your period. i started my period last monday & it was over by wednesday, which is completely normal for me.

am i supposed to start taking the pill once my period is over? or am i supposed to still be on my period when i start?

  1. I'm on Yaz and was instructed to start taking my pills within the first 24 hours of my period. I'm pretty sure that most pills will allow either "First Day" or "Sunday" starters as they're called. Try looking up info on your brand of pill online. If not, call your doctor on Monday.

    Good luck!

  2. to be honest it really doesn't matter when you start it. they just say sunday so you start on a "normal" schedule, so by the time you take your pills at the beginning of the week that allows for your period, your period should be done before the weekend starts. So if you stick to the recommended schedule start sunday regardless if you are still on your period or not.

  3. The Sunday after your period.  So if you stopped Wednesday then this Sunday start taking them.  Also I would recommend waiting until you took one whole pack before you have unprotected s*x.  If you do before it might not protect you cuz its not fully in your system yet.  Just thought I'd let you know if your doctor didn't tell you.
