My dalmation molly is in labor right this very second. I have about 18 so far. I know a lot about mollies but the only thing I don't know is what time I should start to feed the babies. Shoud I feed them right away? Wait a few hours? Help

Thanks

  1. I would feed them after the mom is done having them. I always feed my fry 2-3 times a day. They are growing and need to eat more often then adults.

  2. They have yolk sacks that are still attached. That is what they feed off of for probably 30 minutes. You can feed them right after they are born. You could also wait about 30 minutes. I always feed my fry right after they are born because some of them don't have big yolk sacks. I just put food in there to be safe. If they don't want it now then it will fall to the bottom and they can snack on it later.

  3. My sunburst sailfin molly had fry yesterday (31 of the little buggers). I waited until I got all the fry out of the breeder and into my fry tank (10 gallon)before I fed them a little bit of crushed up flakes. That`s how I usually do it. I don`t put a lot of food in but, just enough for each fry to have a bit. Congrats on your new additions.
