  1. First, I'd recommend that you ask your doctor specifically when it can (or should) be taken. If you are to take the Klonopin to avoid nerve-wracking times, but only one per day, then think about the part of returning to school that makes you most nervous.

Are you a wreck in the morning, before you even head to school? Take it first thing, to take the edge off. If you become extremely anxious around lunch break, take it in class before lunch begins (4th period?? It's been awhile for me!). Try not to worry about the medicine only relieving the level of stress for a short time, and coming right back. The hope is that the Klonopin will help you in the heat of the moment, but that you will be working towards overcoming social anxieties through therapy (or some other means).

I always got extremely anxious as my school-years began, I remember. Lots of people do. You will find others that you can relate to and have fun with. Just be yourself, and *try* not to worry. I wish you the best! ((hugs))

  2. Take the Klonopin as soon as you feel the anxiety is going to come on. If one a day is not enough, ask your doctor for more. You might want to switch the Prozac for Zoloft.  Klonopin lasts for a few hours for most people, but everyone's different.

You shouldn't have to live in a world of anxiety.  If your doctor won't give you what you need, change doctors. You need a doctor who will work with you to find the right combination.

Bless you and good luck.  :)

  3. I was prescribed Klonopin once by a neurologist at Children's Hospital as an Anti-Convulsant (it has many different uses) back when I was 15---I'm 23 now . Anyways, I was closely monitored and told when I could take it (my dosing was very gradual and controlled as well) so I'm not surprised they are telling you no more than one a day (this is COMPLETELY NORMAL). I was always instructed I had to have food on my stomach to take it, and I had to start with a half for a couple of days, then one and a half for a couple of days and then gradually one in the morning and before bed--my normal dose---as I said this medicine is closely controlled and monitored b/c it can be addictive, I stopped taking it after a while I felt it didn't help w/ my situation and was making me too drowsy.

Anyways, if I were you I would probably take it at lunch, b/c you will more than likely be socializing at this hour and will need to feel relaxed in order to feel comfortable socializing and eating (and to digest your food and not get sick to your stomach or have spasms from feeling anxiety while trying to eat). Also there will be something on your stomach to coat the pill (you know the whole "take with food" thing).

Good Luck and Try To Relax : )
