  1. The *average* is between six and eight weeks. Cooing is vocalization other than crying, and can sound different from baby to baby. Generally, babies make lots of breathy vowel sounds..."aaaaa," and "oooooh" are prominent. Whatever sounds your baby makes, make sure you imitate them. They love it when you acknowledge what they're "saying." Good luck.

  2. At 6 weeks my baby started making lots of interesting sounds. They have got more and more advanced since then. She is now 10 weeks

  3. i agree with sarah h..my daughter was also a preemie and started cooing at 3 months corrected age (if you dont know what corrected age is, its the age the baby would be if they were born on there due date) You'll know they're cooing because as a newborn they don't really make any noise except to cry or burp but when they start cooing they'll start with ooos and ahhs and they usually do it when you talk to them. It's like they're having a conversation with you.

  4. my baby started cooing (talking) around 3 months.  it is so much fun to hear him talk and make little baby noises.

  5. my daughter who was a preemie started at about six months (three months adjusted...) she just started making noises back to me when i would talk to her... this may be slower then normal cause she is a little developmentally delayed... but it is the best feeling when you can have that convo with them...
