  3. I guess it depends on what kind and what size.

  4. not all birthmarks fade. I am almost 25 and mine has gotten bigger as I grow. My son has one between his eyes that is still there, but he's only 4.

  12. Birthmarks are markings on your baby's skin that may be permanent or fade away over time. They are also known as congenital naevi; congenital because they are apparent at or shortly after birth and naevi is the medical term for any marks or moles on the skin.

The most common birthmarks are caused by a collection of tiny blood vessels just beneath the skin. These small red, mottled spots are sometimes called "stork bites" or "stork marks" when they're on the back of the head or "angel kisses" when they're on the forehead or eyelids. They may become more obvious when your baby cries. They are harmless and generally disappear in several months but sometimes over years.

Other kinds of birthmarks can be caused by abnormalities in the way the blood vessels have developed or how they work. Some birthmarks are more permanent than others but in most cases they don't cause any physical problems.
