My 9 year old son got his 3rd library card yesterday (he loses all of the other ones) and I was just wondering when boys start carrying wallets?

  1. i'd say when they start holding onto their money and spending it. maybe ten or eleven.

  2. Probably between 6th and 7th grade

  3. well guys i know started at age 12

  4. once there old enogh not to lose money,

  5. sound like now would be a good time, unless you are afraid he will lose the wallet

  6. i would say as soon as they have an id to put in it

  7. When he has a job and money to put in it.

Really, when you think he is responsible enough to carry a wallet without losing it.  My son is almost 11 and although he has a few different wallets he hardly uses them.

    Good Luck!

  8. When they feel like it!

  9. When they seem responsible and you can trust them not to lose it. I think 11+ is a good age, it teaches them responsibility. Then again, I started carrying a purse when I was 10.

  10. WHEN YOU THINK THEY ARE READY FOR IT

  11. ermm good to know that your son is reading! but i think i started using my wallet when i was roughly 12 when i needed lunch money for the school canteen...but im sure just a small wallet will help your son!

  12. My son is 7 and has a wallet that normally stays home unless there is a need to bring it out.  His library card is in it along with an expired Toys R Us coupon.  I let him keep it in his pocket if he's going to the library or store but when we go on trips (vacation) I keep it in my purse till he needs it.  We haven't lost anything just yet, because I help him keep track of it.

I don't know when I will let him be totally responsible for it - I guess when he asks and hopefully he won't keep all of his tooth fairy money in it when he does - because it's a life lesson to loose something at least once.

  13. When they are old enough to get a job

  14. i never have and am 37,dont like to keep all my eggs in 1 basket so to speak...........im sure he would be ok at weekends or in school holidays if hes with his parents so he feels like his daddy

  15. I would say middle school.  My 3yr old has a few and he actually keeps his money in them but I don't let him take them out of the house.

  16. i didn't really start actually using my wallet until i was like 15

  17. When they have a substantial amount of money.... I recon about 4-10 that is assuming a purse = a wallet.

    I had a purse when I was 1....

  18. I've carried a wallet on me since I was about 13 or so. But a lot of kids won't start carrying them until they have something important on them, such as a drivers license.

  19. My little brother is 7yrs old and he is turning 8 on wednesday i had bought him superman wallet at 7 and he carries it all the time with him...

  20. i guess i strting carrying one all the time when i was round 12 but thres no aprticular age.  But if he losses library cards then he'll probably lose the wallaets.

  21. is he is losing stuff then i would say he is not ready for it. he could start by carrying one with him that has very little in it and if he doesnt loose it then you could slowly trust him to put more things of higher value in it. just watch him a bit and make sure he is careful with it

  22. I would say 6th or 7th grade

  23. I'd say nows a good time. But I keep my kid's library card in my wallet. Let him keep only his money in it and when he becomes a little more responsible then give him his card back to put in his wallet.

  24. Once they're old enough to have money to put in it. And once they stop losing that money.
