When do cockerals combs start to grow??

in other words when does it start to turn a different colour?

  1. well to be honest a cockerels comb is growing (along with its body) from the minute it hatches out of its egg.

    generally speaking the cockerels comb will go a fleshy red color when it reaches sexual maturity (normally around 6-7 months) but even then it will continue to grow until the rooster himself is fully grown.

    I have a pen of roosters which were born last September and they are fully grown (in body) but there combs get redder and more fleshy everyday.

    so really some develop quicker then others.

    (just like humans)


  2. It depends on the breed really, I have some that have had their combs show at 4 weeks and have never changed colour and some that have taken about 4 months to actually start really growing in size and have changed from a pale pinky sort of shade to a dark red.
