When do colleges want the TOEFL test score? Is it before applying to the college or after it?

I am an international student, and i want to go to UMKC. I am not sure about when UMKC or other colleges want my TOEFL test score!

  1. I'm not entirely positive, but I believe that you need to have completed and received scores for all standardized tests, including TOEFL, before you apply. I say this because when I applied for business schools, all the applications had a space to enter TOEFL scores. I'm not an international student, so I obviously didn't have to complete it, but it was on the application, so you'll probably have to get it done ahead of time.

    The best thing to do would be to check the school's website to make sure. The information would likely be included with 1) program prerequisites, 2) application instructions, 3) on the actual application, and 4) the FAQ page.

  2. Yes, you need to have the actual TOEFL test score when you apply. I believe you can sometimes get an conditional offer to a college if you state you are about to do the TOEFL test.
