  1. They become "artificial" when they are not directly from natural sources - i.e. they are manufactured according to a chemical formula and not  an extract of anything grown or produced naturally.


  2. some of them come from chemistry labs.

    Pear drops taste of Amyl acetate, and have never been near a pear in their lives.

  3. when they in your mouth..because, technically, they aren't artificial unless you consume them... clever, eh?
